In the post-Trump age, using a reality TV star holding our nation's highest office, tales such as Kissel's are becoming more prevalent -- droves of young men and women are getting involved and seeking public office. On the one hand, the 2016 election showed us that candidates don't need to be capable to win. On the other, it was a rude awakening that the dissatisfied need to take politics. Enter Ben Kissel. At his "day job," Kissel -- combined with co-hosts Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski -- hosts a true-crime-meets-paranormal humor podcast. Last Podcast on the Left is rated second on iTunes' humor graph and attracts fans across the world. But like many dismayed young voters, Kissel took 2016 as a wake-up telephone to run for office. As somebody who's been recorded in podcasts and on the radio for eight years, Kissel admits that a great deal of people wait to run for office for fear of criticism or having their past exposed. His advice? Own it. After all, he says, everybody has their own past, and so long as you "treat the voters with humanity and respect," voters can "accept each of the flaws that go with that person, provided that that individual is ready to accept them." Much like the offenders he covers Last Podcast, Kissel says with a laugh, "a lot of politicians are sociopaths without a moral compass. Obviously not all of them, but we want the people that have scruples, morals, and are worried about their own failings." For somebody who faces the worst of humanity with dark comedy in his day job, 6'7" tall Kissel truly feels in the best of individuals. He believes in sincerity redemption, and good goals. These traits might seem just as strange in a true-crime aficionado as they do at a politician, but they are the very same traits that provide a young, non-politician the exceptional capability to serve the public. No matter what happens on Tuesday, Kissel states, there's no losing. "The fact that we're on the ballot is incredible, which we are ready to inspire individuals to run or engage in the political process -- that is a win. That is a massive triumph," he states. Kissel wants other people to take heart in this message, too: "Losing is a big fear for people, but who cares! Just get out there, and if you keep getting out, continue doing it in any area, you are gonna win." Learn More - Last Podcast On The Left Ben Kissel
